How to Boost Sales with an Effective Email Campaign

How to Boost Sales with an Effective Email Campaign

By Nora Reese

Email may seem like old technology now but it’s still used by everyone, everywhere. Email campaigns can be extremely effective in boosting sales if you use them the right way. If you have a large mailing list then it can be hugely beneficial to your business.

Here we take a look at how you can boost sales with an effective email campaign:

Treat them like a VIP.

To have an effective email campaign, you need a reason for them to be signed up to your mailing list. Having instant access to your promotional campaigns can be a great way to generate excitement. You need to make it feel as though they are being treated better than a regular customer.

You need to remember that email is a direct source of contact, as you’re going straight into their personal email account. This means you can be more personable. It’s a type of intimacy you can’t get with the likes of Twitter or Facebook.

Be exclusive.

A great way to boost sales from an email campaign is to offer something exclusive. This could be a code for 20% off, early access to a popular item or even having a product available exclusively to those in your mailing list.

Not only does this bring a sense of loyalty from the customer but it will also make others desperate to sign up to your mailing list. You can use a resource such as Mailchimp to create forms that will capture a vast range of email addresses.

Write strong copy.

The content of your email matters a lot. People need to instantly know that this isn’t spam that they can just ignore and it will instead be of value to them. This needs to have a catchy subject line and writing that will keep the reader hooked without boring them.

In terms of results, there will be a huge difference between poor and professional writing. If you’re not sure you’re capable of writing this level of copy, then get someone to do it for you. Upwork is a great resource to hire freelance writers.

Use professional imagery.

Making enticing emails can be difficult as you don’t have a lot of space or time to work with. The reader needs to know the content of the email almost instantly. If it doesn’t grab their attention then they’ll simply click off.

That’s where using professional-looking content can help. Any information needs to be brightly and easily displayed. If you wanted to find copyright-free images then there are plenty of places to do so such as Unsplash

Direct people towards your email.

If you want to have an effective email campaign then people need to know that it exists. You can use your social media channels to direct people to sign up and give them a reason to do so, such as promotional offers.

You should also have a website which is going to most likely be the best place to capture your email addresses. You can even display the information on cards that you can make with Business Cards along with leaflets and receipts.

Make sure it works on all platforms.

You’ve written the perfect email on your computer, it looks fantastic and now all you have to do is send it out to all your mailing list. This could potentially be a huge error if you find that the same email that looks great on a computer looks awful on a cell phone.

Before sending your beautifully curated email out, make sure it looks great on desktop, phone and tablet. You’ll get plenty of traffic from all three sources and you don’t want all your hard work to go to waste.
