Audacity Book Club: July Read
By Nic Daniels
Hello, audacious readers!
Welcome back to Hot Love Summer, where the romance matches the temperatures outside (Too much? Oh, well. We’re rolling with it!). Last month, we experienced a balmy week in the heart of New York in Seven Day in June by Tia Williams. This month, as is tradition every July, I’m recommending a personal favorite of mine: Alone With You in the Ether: A Love Story by Olivie Blake.
In Chicago, two people meet at the Art Institute Museum by chance and discover the power of beginnings. Reagan finds people exhausting and tedious—including herself. She tries her best to get used to the monotony of her life when she comes across Aldo. Aldo is the exact opposite, finding life to be chaotic and only something that can be coped with through ridged routine. Both eccentric and not-so-balanced personalities, Aldo and Regan are sure that what they have now is all that’s left for their future.
When these two opposite meet, something shifts and instead of going back to their usual patterns, they commit to six conversations with each other. The two find themselves in a place of rare honesty along with an emotional stimulus that has them wondering what else is out there. Within six conversations, Regan and Aldo not only find something new but perhaps something that can make them rethink their realities all together.
Alone With You in the Ether: A Love Story explores a neurodivergent relationship that proves love can be found in the most unexpected places and with people you never saw coming. This book is available wherever books are sold as well as in your local library. I hope you enjoy it, and I will see you at the end of the month for the full review.
Until then, don’t forget to read audaciously!
