Audacity Book Club: February Read
By Nic Daniels
Welcome back, audacious readers!
The winter slump is approaching but never fear. The book club is here to add a little spice in these chilly months. Last month, we followed the misadventures of witch twins, Dorian and Dani in Hooky by Miriam Bonastre Tur. This month, we’re entering days filled with promise, blackness, and romance with Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert.
Danika Brown is a headstrong, career-driven Ph.D. student. She’s never cared about anyone’s opinion about her, her love life, or her sexuality and is done trying to find romance. Instead, she’s ready for the perfect friends-with-benefits scenario. On the opposite end, brooding, former rugby player Zafir Ansari is a secret romantic. He wants a long-term partner, loves reading romance books, and has had eyes for Dani since the day he met her.
Still, the two never crossed the line of friendship until a video of Zafir saving Dani froma fire drill goes viral, bringing attention to them and the non-profit organization he’s been trying to get off the ground. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, Zafir begs Dani to pretend to be his girlfriend just until the organization. Dani can’t help but agree—after all, who wouldn’t agree to help children?
However, Dani has her own plans with the handsome Zafir, thinking she’s found the perfect fit for her friends-with-benefits, while Zafir is determined to break through Dani’s stone-cold demenor. Stubborn to a fault, Dani and Zafir are determined to have things their way—but life might have other plans.
Take a Hint, Dani Brown is a fun and spicy rom-com that asks what if what we truly want is right in front of us? This book is available wherever books are sold as well as your local library. I hope you enjoy, and I will see you at the end of the month for the full review.
Until then, don’t forget to read audaciously!
