Introducing the Audacity Book Club with Nic Daniels

Hello, Audacity readers!

You’ve been asking for the last three years and now it’s finally here. Welcome to the Audacity Book Club! Here we will be exploring books that explore millennial issues and topics as well as books that are just fun.

Here's how it works: every first Monday of the month, I’ll introduce the book we’ll be reading. There will also be a couple questions to think about. On the last Monday of the month, I’ll give a full review of the book with all the spoilers. There will also be an IG Live with me and Jessica, co-founder of Audacity Magazine & Events.

Think of this as a Pixar movie. Some books will make you laugh, take you on an adventure, and some may make you cry. However, all the books will strive to be insightful and make you ask yourself, “what do I want?” Together, we’ll figure it out while adding some gems to your bookshelf.

But who am I? My name is Nic Daniels, aspiring author and writer. I've written for Business Insider and CNN and am looking to publish my first novel in the next two years. I’m an avid reader, love listening to music, and can talk your ear off about pretty much anything.

Alright, enough about me. This month’s book is Failing Up by Leslie Odom Jr. Yes, that Leslie Odom Jr., known for playing Aaron Burr in Hamilton. This book is a biography filled with life lessons that has helped the actor reach his fullest potential.

The life of an actor is no easy feat. It’s full of doubts, faith, wrong turns, and unintended pauses. It’s a life that can easily lead you to getting lost, which Leslie does not shy from. He takes us on an abbreviated journey of his life, focusing on his mistakes and his convictions that led to the biggest changes in his life. As we still deal with the effects of 2020 while trying to push through 2021, this book is more fitting than you think.

You can find Failing Up anywhere books are sold. If you don’t feel like purchasing this book, check out your local library.

Hope you enjoy, and make sure to read audaciously!
